Here the scope of functions of the current version of LiveWorld is presented. The programm is developed in Java and should run on any mobile device that supports Java CLDC 1.1, MIDP 2.0. Therefore LiveWorld is device-independent to a large extent.
LiveWorld Version 1.1
- Simple, Windows-like operation through menus
- Loading and display of arbitrary maps
- Multi-language menu navigation (German, English, French)
- GPS-capable on all phones with built in GPS-connection or through external GPS-devices via bluetooth
- Representation of text information (descriptions, addresses, etc. - the text size cannot be forseen, because it depends on the operating system of a given phone)
- Representation of general text- or image informationen (map directions, etc.)
- Representation of audio files is possible (depending on the phone's memory)
- Representation of video files is possible (depending on teh phone's memory)
- Representation of geografically referenced highlights, so-called points of interest (POI) as additional multimedia information (text, image, audio or video)
- Representation of multiple images (slide shows) for comprehensive information at a single POI
- Labelling of POI in the map and/or in a list, grouped into different categories (places of interest, gastronomy, accomodation, service) with a direct leap to their position in the map. When GPS is on there will also be a directional sign and distance information.

- Switchable sound on arrival of a POI
- Automatic presentation of the multimedia information of a POI, when passing with enabled GPS
- Cursor function, active piloting of arbitrary points/POI in the map, even off the track
- Loading and presenting of user-defined tours, that have been geografically referenced beforehand
- "Sofa-mode" for the preparation of an excursion - automatic simulation of a GPS-guided tour on the display with presentation of all adjacent POI
- Switchable keyboard-lock
