How does LiveWorld get on your mobile phone?
LiveWorld is designed in the programming language Java. This guarantees for a certain platform independent operation and makes it easier to develop software for different mobile devices.
Unfortunately platform independency stops here, manufacturers of mobiles cut their own paths when suppoting Java applications.
If you do not mind online costs, the easiest way to install LiveWorld is online via the internet. Enter the following link when you are in your phone browser:
http://mob.gistum.com/ota/LiveWorld.jad
This works on all devices on which you can acces the internet directly. As mentioned before, this method induces online costs, however it is the ONLY METHOD that is supported comparably by ALL MANUFACTURERS.
Offline, i.e. without internet connection, at present LiveWorld runs only on devices manufactured by Nokia and SonyEricsson. This has nothing to do with our program, but rather with the certifying policies of other manufacturers. In order to make LiveWorld run user-friendly, it has to undergo certification. Otherwise some program internal access modes do not function. Except for Nokia and SonyEricsson the certifying process is complicated, long-lasting and expensive. However, we continue to work hard to certify our software, so that it runs properly also on other devices.
Nokia
Nokia supports installation on Java applications directly through the in-house program „Nokia PC-Suite“. If you do not have it or you do not find the original program-CD supplied with your phone any more, you will get the suite through this link:
http://www.nokia.de/de/service/software/167964.html
In the Nokia PC-Suite there is an Option „install application“. All the rest is self-explanatory.
SonyEricsson
There is no program installer for SonyEricsson. However, you have to install the SonyEricsson software „PC Suite“, otherwise access to your phone's memory card would not function when you need it later on for the installation of maps and productions. Normally phones come with a program-CD. On this CD you will find the PC-Suite, or here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=de&lc=de&ver=4000&template=ps1&zone=ps&lm=ps1
The classic way is to copy the files LiveWorld.jad and LiveWorld.jar to the phone's MemoryStick, and that into the directory \MSSEMC\Media files\other.
You then find both files on your phone under My Phone / Other.
In order to install the proram to your phone click on the filename LiveWorld.jad and follow the instructions on the screen.
Detailed installation instructions
In our download section you will find detailed installationinstructions for some selected phones. Please consult this section to check if your phone is included. If not, please read such an instruction nonetheless. Operating systems and the installation of programs on different mobile devices are alike very often.
Beforehand! When you have installed LiveWorld, please do not launch the progam right away. First of all you have to adjust access rights (s.b.)
Adjusting of rights
Before starting LiveWorld, you should adjust the access rights of the program on any phone. Normally you will find the "rights-options" in the (program) manager of your phone. Select "LiveWorld" and adjust the rights for LiveWorld over the "more" or "options" button of your phone. Please set the options "read user data", "write user data" "local connection" and "internet access" to "never ask". When this option is not offered, set it to "ask once".
The straight tip:
Install LiveWorld to your phone's memory. It makes life easier when you change memory cards later on. LiveWorld will still be available. Most phones ask you during the installation process where you want to install a program. Some SonyEricsson's install programs on the memory stick by default. However, in most cases you can transfer it to the phone's memory by adjusting the settings for the program in its options menu.
